At approximately 9 a.m. on Wednesday November 5 in Yongtai New Village, Guangzhou City, traffic police set up a road block to check vehicles. A motorcycle taxi driver tried to flee the road block and was killed by three gunshots. According to an eyewitness, a male riding a motorcycle tried to flee from the road block. A traffic policeman fired at least three shots, the man was shot dead, a hatchet was lying next to him on the ground. He laid on the ground for a long time, no police tried to rescue or resuscitate him.
 
That day at noon, the dead man’s family members carried a banner reading: “Police kill a man, give us justice” and went to protest at the site of the shooting, Hundreds of city residents surrounded and watched the protest. In the afternoon, the demonstrating family members and citizens observing were dispersed by traffic and riot police.
 
Guangzhou Daily newspaper reported: This morning in Jinlicheng Square, Yongkang Road, Baiyun District, Guangzhou City, an eyewitness saw a male riding a motorcycle trying to flee from a police road block. A plainclothes policeman fired at least three shots, the man was shot dead, a hatchet was visible next to him on the ground.
